ELECTRIC CAR PROJECT 9311 DIARY, SEP 96
---------------------------------------------------------------------
9/3/96
Put the car on the jackstands and removed wheels.
9/4/96
Took the seat belt needing repair to Durham Sunroofs &
Upholstry.
They stitched it together for no charge. Reinstalled the
left-side
seat belt and trim.
9/5/96
Picked up the polished wheels at Whetnall Polishing. Took wheels
to
Goodyear to have the tires mounted. Goodyear called, later, to
say
that they didn't have valve stems that would fit. Ordered
"proper"
valve stems from Barrier Motors.
9/10/96
Painted the outside of the rear battery box cover with Krylon
flat
black.
9/11/96
Took the valve stems to Goodyear. They were too small and
wouldn't
work. Called Whetnall Polishing to see if the had saved the old
valve stems. They hadn't. They referred me to Seattle Tire
Service.
Checked with Dale at Stoddard Imported Cars and he said that
valve
stems for those wheels are not available. Called Seattle Tire
Service and they said they could do it.
9/12/96
Painted both sides of front battery box cover with the Krylon
flat
black.
9/13/96
Took the wheels and tires to Seattle Tire Service. Returned later
and picked up three wheels with the tires mounted. One tire had
two
damaged spots on the bead area and they did not mount it. Called
Goodyear to arrange for a replacement.
9/16/96
Picked up replacement tire at Goodyear and took it to Seattle
Tire
Service to be mounted.
9/22/96
Installed new wheels and tires. Torqued the lug nuts to 101
ft-lbs
per the Porsche manual and then removed the nut adjacent to the
valve stem and installed a RND wheel lock torqued to 50 ft-lbs
per
their specification.
