4/1/96
Counterbored holes. Drilled holes to size. Assembled. Installed in
the car. Fits fine. Front edge is about 1/8" low.
4/2/96
Decided to not change the transmission oil. Removed the transmission
oil fill plug. Stuck finger in and got oil. Ergo: The oil level is
very close to the specified fill level. Cut, drilled and installed
rear slide on rear battery box loader.
4/3/95
Installed front slide on rear battery box loader. Cut slides for the
cross pieces.
4/4/96
Completed the rear battery loader. Installed crosspieces with slides
and installed side guides. The "wood" part of the loader weighs 61
pounds and the metal part weighs 13 pounds.
4/6/96
Installed a plexiglass shield over the controller terminal area and
the main contactor. Installed a cable clamp on the positive power
cable near the main contactor. Removed the interior trim from left
side door. Cannot get window lifter mechanism out of door without
disassembling window frame part of the door. Removed sill plate on
right side door to reveal rusted area at rear of sill.
4/7/96
Removed left side sill plate. Removed seat brackets.
4/9/96
Reinstalled tires but did not tighten lug nuts. One tire doesn't
hold air so installed spare at left front.
4/10/96
Tightened lug nuts and removed jack stands.
4/11/96
Charged start battery.
4/12/96
Called Hammer Auto Rebuild to arrange for tow.
4/15/96
Car was towed to Hammer Auto Rebuild. Made a new top, one that fits
better, for the rear battery box. Filled visible screw holes and
defects in rear battery box with plastic wood.
4/16/96
Sanded plastic wood in rear battery box smooth. Marked metal parts
rear battery loader with cold chisel.
4/17/96
Got paint for battery boxes at Sherman-Williams. Got call back from
Don Hammer at Hammer Auto Rebuild. He said the job would be $1500. I
called him back and said okay.
4/22/96
Primed the exposed wood parts of battery boxes. Painted the exterior
of the battery boxes black. Screwed up and painted the inside of the
front battery box lid black, too.
4/23/96
Applied second coat of black paint mainly to cover the spots where
the primer bled through.
4/24/96
Painted the bottoms of the battery boxes and the tops of the battery
box lids.
4/25/96
Used a small paint roller to apply yet another coat to the battery
boxes and lids. This was the second coat for the bottoms and the
lids and the third for the rest.
4/26/96
Painted the inside of the battery boxes white. Painted the inside of
the rear battery box lid white.
4/27/96
Used a small paint roller to apply another coat of white.
4/30/96
Touched up black on edges of boxes and lid.
